In 2010, Prof. Dr. Murat Songu achieved third place (88 points) in the joint written exam for the Health Ministry’s Chief, Deputy Chief, and Head Assistant positions, and first place (100 points) in the oral exam for Head Assistant.

He was then appointed to the teaching staff at the Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic of Izmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital. On September 5, 2014, he earned the title of “Associate Professor of Otolaryngology” after passing an oral exam at Ankara Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Hospital.

He received a scholarship from the Turkish Society of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery and worked at the Robotic Surgery Unit of UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) in Pittsburgh, USA, between February and May 2016. On April 2, 2021, he earned the title of “Professor of Otolaryngology.”

Prof. Dr. Murat Songu has contributed to the medical literature on a national and international level with over 100 published scientific studies, numerous international and national presentations, 8 international book chapters, 9 national book chapters, and speaking engagements at around 100 scientific events.

He has also taken on various international publishing responsibilities and is currently serving as an editor, section editor, member of the editorial board, and reviewer for multiple journals.

Prof. Dr. Murat Songu has dedicated more than 10 years of service to one of Turkey’s busiest hospitals, working tirelessly on a daily basis and contributing to the training of over 100 Otolaryngology residents.

Married and father of two children (Ayşe Songu, Selim Songu), Prof. Dr. Murat Songu continues to work at Songu Clinic, which he founded.

2008 – Politzer Society Special Prize (Georges Portmann Institute in France, 2008)

• With the research she started at the Georges Portmann Institute in France, she won the “Politzer Society Special Prize” in 2008. She is the second citizen of the Republic of Turkey to win this award.

2009 – Commendation by the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey

• In 2009, he was awarded with a Certificate of Appreciation by the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey for being the second citizen of the Republic of Turkey to receive the Politzer Association Special Award.
